The second-hand shopping app has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all users about the change. Social Media Reaction Countless users and merchants have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification. Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces. They have suggested members to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, which has left users frustrated. Sizing System Modifications Previously, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10. The new system has a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10. With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18. Member Experiences Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder". "Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does. Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22. "If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she explained. Necessary Adjustments Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing". "This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she stated. Service Background The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members. It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop. This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: last year, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options following member complaints.
